29 Nov Smokey eyes on blue eyes | How to?
Smokey eyes on blue eyes is a great idea. Blue eyes have always been considered especially beautiful and sophisticated. Their color is reminiscent of elements of nature, such as the ocean and the sky. Blue eyes are equally impressive without makeup, but you can always emphasize their beauty with makeup. Since blue eyes usually follow a light complexion, I advise you to avoid black eyeshadow, when creating the so-called smokey eyes effect. I suggest you try a brown, dirty gray shade or smoke color. These colors will give your face a much more moderate and softer look, while emphasizing eye color.
Smokey eyes is a timeless style of makeup, which can match all eye colors. However, when it comes to blue eyes, black eyeshadow can often seem overly heavy. You should consider trying a more flattering, brown, smokey eye. To do this, combine shades of beige, bronze and chocolate on the eyelids. Then finish the look with a dark brown eyeliner and a stroke or two of black mascara. These are general tips for blue eye makeup, and if you are interested in what our Marija Butković advises, keep reading.
Apply eyeshadow base if you are doing smokey eyes
First of all, apply a make-up base on a clean lid to make the eyeshadow as permanent as possible. The eyeshadow base is quite necessary if you want the makeup on your eyes to last more than just a few hours. It prolongs the duration of your hard work, so you can enjoy your look from morning to night without having to worry about faded eye pencil strokes or creasing eyeshadows. Here are the benefits of applying a make-up base:
- Prevents smudges and wrinkles from eyeshadow: If you have naturally oily eyelids, your eyeshadow could be prone to blemishes throughout the day. The primer, however, acts as a barrier between natural eye oils and eye makeup.
- Makes applying eyeshadow even: Those who have dry eyelids find it harder to evenly apply eye makeup as well as emphasizing fine lines. Adding powder in the shade (a naturally dry product) to already dry skin can accentuate fine lines, especially if you’re working with anything shimmery.
- Eyeshadow adheres better: Applying eyeshadow on dry skin can be a frustrating, as the powder product has nothing to hold on to. If there is not enough moisture for the eyeshadow to adhere properly, the eyeshadow pad will act as a base to keep your shadow in place. It also gives you a smooth base for even shadow application.
- Emphasizes the true color of eyeshadow: Unlike using concealer as an eyeshadow foundation – which Marija says can interfere with the tones of your eye makeup and make the pigment look dull – a darkened eyeshadow foundation will even out the tone of your eyelids while remaining a true color eyeshadows.
How to combine three eyeshadow shades?
Three shades can be combined in two ways:
- 1. Place the lightest eyeshadow on the entire eyelid almost to the eyebrow, a medium dark shade on the crease along the entire length, and the darkest on the outer corners of the upper and lower eyelids.
- 2. In the second variant, apply a medium dark color on the entire eyelid to the crease, the lightest in the middle of the eyelid, ie on the part that is otherwise the most protruding, and the darkest on the outer corners of the eye.
If you are not satisfied with the intensity even after applying the eyeshadow, you can apply a dark brown or dark gray eyeliner inside the lashes and on their upper and lower edge. You can use the mentioned pencils for the day, and black for evening outings. To achieve the softest effect, I suggest that you go over the drawn line of the pencil with a clean make-up brush or a sponge applicator.
Since we use a larger amount of eyeshadow to create the smokey eyes effect than for other looks, a part of the eyeshadow particles will definitely end up on your face as well. So I suggest you make smokey eyes first, clean off the excess eyeshadow, and only then apply concealer and powder. Finally, apply mascara.
